What's
CRISLA
Since its inception in 1976, the goals of
CRISLA (information center for solidarity with developing countries in Asia,
Africa, and Latin America) have been to consider and suggest how development
in the regions of Lorient and Britanny might adhere to the postulates of international
solidarity and sustainable development.
A two-fold nature characterizes the CRISLA's
agenda, which consists of :
- Sensitize everyone in Brittany involved
in development and encourage them to consider sustainable development and
the interests (both direct and indirect) of the South, thus encouraging the
possibility of North-South partnerships.
- Communicating the opinions and considerations
of partners of the South. In order to make progress in these two directions,
various approaches have been attempted : a documentation center, publications
('Down to Earth towards sustainable development'), and presentations in local
schools, associations, and public spaces. In a consensus reached on 12 July
2001, the CAPL (Committee of the agglomeration of Lorient Townships) conferred
on CRISLA the responsibility of organizing a network of local actors involved
in promoting sustainable development, culminating in a 'resource center for
sustainable development in Lorient'.
